Tips, tricks and thoughts

At Old Scratch Coffee, we want to give you all the tips and tricks of making coffee and all the things we have learned over the decades.  Each Infographic posted here will hold a different brewing method or highlight a different type of coffee and/or the people who worked to bring it to your door.

First off the line is the Drip Brew method with a plain and simple electric coffee pot.  It seems like a simple thing, everyone has them hidden away in a closet, in the garage or the back of a cupboard, oftem displaced for a shiney new Keurig or Nesspresso pod tossing machine.  We did it, and the coffee pot went to the garage for a while, but after a ton of pods headed to the landfill and such a small amount of adjustment that can be done to enhance the brewing the old Mr. Coffee (its actually a Cuisneart, but i do love the Mr. Coffee name) came back out to reclaim its spot on our limited counterspace.  With the tips in the image below, and some trial and error, you really can produce a quality brew from the electric coffee pot.  Clicking the image will bring up the larger size image page that you can copy to your device and save in a coffee cookbook gallery or print off and have your first page to your very own paper Coffee CookBook!  There is no purchase needed to use these, pages, so please use them, send them to friends, share the knowledge and come back for some amazing quality beans to use with them!

Brewing Coffee With The Pour-Over Method

So you got the pour-over kit, and you are eager to try it out and have a fun and caffinated evening?  Well I hope you are ready for a great time!  No, really, making a pour-over coffee has a lot of steps, and each one can be manipulated by you to effect your final outcome.  It is a lot of fun, and a wonderful way to really get full control of your coffee.  Just because there are lots of step, do not let it deter you, I know you can do this and it will be amazing!  Click the image below to bring up the downloadable and printable page for your Coffee Cookbook, I cant wait to start seeing how you all are putting them together!  Send pictures and I will share them with everyone on our Facebook and Instagram pages at https://www.facebook.com/oldscratchkevin and @oldscratchcoffee on instagram.  In this page I suggest checking out youtube videos to see different takes on making coffee, one in particular is a channel by James Hoffmann that I find to be the most detailed view on making and enjoying coffee,  You can find his videos at https://www.youtube.com/@jameshoffmann While he does get a bit into the weeds (he is very passionate in an odd non-emotional British way), he does have a fun sense of humor as well, as evidenced by his video reacting to a Brad Pitt comercial for a coffee maker and then his remake of the same commercial.  It is worth subscribing just for that!
